About Your Physical Therapist
Dr. Yury Chorny, PT, DPT, MTC, OCS his journey began when he and his family immigrated to United States from Ukraine in 1990. He and his family settled in Cleveland Ohio area, where Dr. Chorny discovered physical therapy after injuring his knee in 8th grade while playing basketball. Yury’s dedication to physical therapy began with his successful knee surgery, followed by a transformative experience during rehabilitation. This pivotal moment ignited his commitment to helping others regain mobility and lead healthier lives.
Dr. Chorny has thoroughly enjoyed treating a wide variety of conditions and populations over his 20-year career. Everyone from pediatric population, high school, colligate as well as professional athletes, and patients with spine disorders such as cervical, thoracic, lumbar as well as Sacro-Illiac joint (SIJ) dysfunctions, he is very passionate about treating patients with Headaches and Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunctions. Dr. Chorny has also worked with amazing orthopedic surgeons from Dayton as well as Columbus and Cincinnati, helping patients with post-operative care such as shoulder/knee/hip surgery, total joint replacement of the shoulder/knee/hip. His primary passion is to educate patients about their condition, listen to their concerns, which requires some detective work and a deeper level of understanding of anatomy and biomechanics. Dr. Chorny loves to guide his patients through their journey of understanding, recovery, prevention, and increased performance no matter what his patients’ goals are. Also, troubleshoot and solve patients’ primary as well as secondary concerns.
On a personal note, Yury has two amazing children, Nicolas and Callie. Yury stays very active in the community as well as athletics, he is a member of Oakwood Rotary Club, Oakwood Beatification Committee and he still plays Volleyball, Basketball and enjoys water sports such as waterskiing/wake surfing. When he is not in the clinic, his passion is college sports, University of Dayton Basketball and Ohio State Football. He loves to travel with his family and loved ones as well as explore local history. One claim to an entrepreneurial invention, Dr. Chorny invented a Comfortable Pillow which has helped many patients as well as customers around the world.
In 2023, fueled by a desire to refocus on personalized patient care, Dr. Chorny founded ACORN Physical Therapy with the vision to spend more one-on-one time with patients, providing education, empowerment, and encouragement to help them achieve their goals.
